Stomachaches and Digestion Problems

If your child has frequent, severe stomachaches, or other digestion and intestinal problems, you want to know what’s wrong and what you can do to help

Pediatric gastroenterologyStomachaches are very common in children. Often children get stomachaches for the same reasons that adults get headaches—stress or worrying. But they can be a sign of a more serious problem. We also have two specialists in diagnosing and treating childhood stomach, digestion and intestinal disorders. They are called pediatric gastroenterologists.

These specialists work with children and their families to find out why there are problems. They may perform tests to evaluate the intestines, check the amount of acid reflux into the esophagus, determine calories required for proper growth or evaluate how well the liver is working.

Among the conditions we diagnose and treat:
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Acid (gastroesophageal) reflux
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Failure to thrive
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Hepatitis
  • Jaundice in newborns
  • Short bowel syndrome
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Celiac disease
As our pediatric gastroenterologists work with you and your child to diagnose and treat a problem, they are supported tommy the turtleby a team of caregivers who help with diets and treatments. They include dietitians, psychologists and psychiatrists.

For more information or for help scheduling an appointment with one of our specialists, please call 877-LVH-KIDZ (584-5439) or 610-402-CARE, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
